Norfolk EDA Conference Announced

The Norfolk Eating Disorders Association would like to invite you to a one-day conference 'EATING DISORDERS UNCOVERED', focusing on young people with issues around food and those supporting them.

These disorders are amongst the most common and troubling health problems facing our young people in the 21st century. The aim of this conference is to provide you with the latest information on the subject, and a toolkit of practical skills that support recovery. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Tony Jaffa from the Pheonix Centre in Cambridge. Dr. Ken Goss from the Eating Disorders Service in Coventry will speak on 'The Compassionate Mind'. There will be workshops covering a wide range of topics, including one run by an experienced NHS Dietician and one on 'Strategies for Supporting Someone with an Eating Disorder'. We have invited several young people to contribute throughout the day, sharing their experiences, both positive and negative. We will also have a recovered person speaking about their personal pathway to recovery. The conference will be held at the King's Centre in Norwich on the 6th of May from 9.00am until 4.30pm. Lunch will be provided. CPD accreditation is available.

Regular ticket prices are £40 per person, however, we are offering an early bird special. If you book your ticket before the 31st March, we are reducing ticket prices to only £30. Spaces are limited so please book in early.

Please find below a poster and our registration form which includes our payment details. Payments can be made by direct debit or by cheques.
For further details or to book please ring 07826 576248 or email conference@norfolkeda.org.uk.

We would very much appreciate it if you could forward this invitation on to any others who may be interested.

Norfolk EDA Volunteer wins Annual Civic Award

Hannah, one of our team of dedicated volunteers, has won an Annual Civic Award this year for her volunteer work with us. Hannah has volunteered in the last year for both our Art for All class and our Writing and Spirituality group. On the evening of the 7th May, 2008 we attended the award ceremony at City Hall, where her award was presented with appropriate pomp and ceremony by the Lord Mayor (see top left).

Congratulations, Hannah! Well done from everyone here, and a big thumbs up!

Of course, we have a large team of volunteers at NEDA and they all work very hard. We would not be able to run the organisation without their time and dedication — so a big thank you to you all!
